Jul 15, 2017 The last Xcode version compatible with El Capitan is Xcode 8.2.1. If you can't install it from within Apple App Store, visit Apple Developer and download the app there. An Apple ID is required. Xcode is provided as xip file (signed zip).

Nov 23, 2017 The thing is I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2009 with El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G17023) and an iPhone 5s running iOS 11.1.2 (15B202). The latest version of Xcode compatible with El Capitan (I think) is 8.2.1 and it is not compatible with my iOS version. I can't find the way to download the Xcode that is appropriate for ElCapitan, the APp Store points to a more recent version for HIgh Sierra. More Less MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), Xcode.
